Mid-Term CME of NABI at Hisar, Haryana, 1st October 2011
A full day Mid-Term CME of NABI was held at Midtown Grand, Hisar, Haryana on 1st of October 2011. With a theme of ‘A-Z in burns’, the didactic lectures encompassed practically all aspects of burns. Nearly 80 delegates registered from different parts of Haryana, Punjab & Rajasthan. After Saraswati vandana the Conference was inaugurated and the Inaugural lamp was lit by Dr. Mrs C.P Soni. Speakers from various burn institutions delivered their talks and interacted with the audience.
Dr.S.K.Soni set the ball rolling with the talk on how to establish a burn unit in rural areas. Dr.Prabhat Shrivastava discussed the Burn Epidemiology and Pre-hospital care for various types of burn injuries. He also deliberated upon the Initial assessment, Emergency care & Fluid therapy for burn shock resuscitation. Dr. Lalit Makhija informed about the progress made in the National Program for Prevention of Burn Injuries (NPPBI). There were lectures on Topical antimicrobials & Systemic antibiotics, and Chemical Burns by Dr.V.K.Tiwari.
Definitive Burn Wound Management and The Role of Nutrition in Burns was discussed by Dr. R.P Narayan. Electrical burn injuries were spoken by Dr Rajat Soni. Dr Umesh Shah highlighted various recent advances in the field of burn management. Among these dignitaries, Ms. Shirin Juwaley, Founder and Director of a NGO named 'Palash' in Mumbai who herself is an acid attack victim addressed Disfigurement and its social impact. A message even to doctors treating burn patients was conveyed with warmth that they should be very polite with all such thermally injured victims. Valedictory function was followed by a grand cultural evening & dinner.
A drawing competition in schools was also organized with the theme of "Prevention of burns" and all the paintings were displayed in the exhibition area during the CME. |
