OPERATION RESTORE-a FREE Burn Reconstructive Camp
The Camp was organised by Rotary Dist 3140 and the National Burns Centre on Dates 18-19 July. This is the 11th Camp and so far more than 300 patients have benefitted. The Venue was National Burns Centre(www.burns-india.com)
There were Operating Team Plastic Surgeons,7 anesthesiologists, 25 volunteers and a vibrant band of Rotarians,Rotaractors and Interactors.

Burn Awareness Programme and CME Burns at Guwahati Assam
A C.M.E and Awareness program was organized on 5th and 6th August’ 2015 at Auditorium complex, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. The C.M.E was inaugurated by chief guest Mr.S. Kumar, Principal Secretary, H&FW, Govt. Of Assam. A souvenir was also released by him on the occassion.
Prof. S.P. Bajaj and Prof K. Agarwal from New Delhi were the invited faculty of the C.M.E,
Renown writer Mrs.Anuradha Sarma Pujari released the Documentary on burns produced by Prof. Dr. Seema Rekha Devi.. A special Screening of the Documentary at the meeting was hugely appreciated by all.
There were approximately 150 participants including doctors, nurses, paramedic and physiotherapist.
On 6th August’ 2015, an awareness rally on prevention of burns was organized with huge participation. It was followed by presentation and demonstration on fire by fire brigade staff. It was very informative indeed for all participants.

Burn Unit in IMS & SUM Hospital, Bhubhneshwar, Orrisa
With the support of management of SOA University , Dr Jayant Dash has established a most advanced burn centre in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It is another state of art burn unit with an area of 6000 sq feet and is an eight bedded ICU with following features:
- 8 isolated cubicles with Arjo Huntleigh motorised bed, monitor and also facility for ventilator and dialysis
- HEPA filtered air conditioning system with temp and humidity control in each cubicle
- antibacterial paint on floor and wall
- Arjo huntleigh hydrotherapy system with miranti patient career
- dressing room, modular OT and a physiotherapy unit

Kalda Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre, Raipur
Dr Sunil Kalda, a senior Burns and Plastic Surgeon has started with 39 bedded State of art Burn unit in his centre –Kalda Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre at Raipur, the first of its kind in Chattisgarh. It has a 9 bedded ICU dedicated only for burns patients. It has been functional for over an year and is catering to burn patients from Chattisgarh as well as neighbouring states . It has been running very successfully with a high patient turnover rate.

Burn Care Foundation organizes Training Program on Essential Burn Care
As a part of ongoing endeavor to educate medical personnel, working in peripheral hospitals on basic management of burns and to make common people aware of first aid and prevention of burn accidents, Burn Care Foundation, a Social Unit of NEMCARE Hospital, in Association with INTERBURNS (International Network on Training, Education and Research in Burns ) Organized a Training Program on Essential Burn Care at Bongaigaon Refinery campus on 12th December 2015. The program was assisted by the Association of Surgeons of Assam.
The program included lecture, demonstration, group discussions and skill stations. The new methods of management of burns by using now available wound covers and Early Excision and skin grafting in deep burns were also discussed with audio and video means. The Program was attended by 25 doctors, 16 Nurses and 8 paramedics (Total 49). They took active interest and enthusiastically interacted with the faculties. Certificates were handed over to all the participants at the end of the program.
In the evening, a Public Awareness Program on First Aid and Prevention of Burns Accidents were organized in the same venue. Dr Bhupendra Prasad Sarma, Convener, Burn Care Foundation gave talk on the subject with audio-visual means and also talked in details about how to remove miss conception about first aid and treatment of burns.
This is the 8th Training program on Essential Burn Care organized by Burn Care Foundation in last three years in different parts of North Eastern states.
Workshop on Burns Management , Dept. of Burns, Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery
Safdarjung Hospitla, New Delhi
Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Safdarjung Hospital New Delhi held a burn awareness and managment workshop for MBBS Students on 31st January 2016 during the VAMSCON which is an annual conference of undergraduate students of VMMC.
This is held every year, this year also it had a good attendance and students were taught about prevention of burns as well as management of burns.
They were involved in role play depicting preventive measures to be taken to prevent burns as well as dressings. They had a hands on exposure for burns wound dressing and skin grafting on models.
