The 19th Annual Conference of the National Academy of Burns - India was held in Chennai and was hosted by the Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai. NABICON was earlier held at Chennai in 1997, when Prof.K.Mathangi Ramakrishnan was the President of NABI. The Conference started with the CME and the Nurses Training Program on 20th of January 2011 at the Auditorium, KMC. The CME was inaugurated by Dr.Marella Hanumadass, Chicago, USA. The Nurses Training Program was started by the Principal of Nursing College, Chennai. Nursing students from Chennai, Madurai and Christian Medical College, Vellore attended the program. All the nurses visited 50 bedded Burns Unit at the KMC Hospital at the culmination of the Nurses program.

On 21st January 2011, the program started with the Past President's meeting, Executive Committee meeting at Hotel Savera after lunch. The Inaugural function was at 6 PM. Shri.V.K.Subburaj, IAS, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamilnadu and Mr.R.Natraj, IPS, Director General of Police were the Chief Guests for the function. The International faculty consisted of Dr.R.Gamelli, USA, Dr.M.Hanumadass USA, Dr.C.Thomas, Muscat, Dr.A.Burd, Hongkong, Dr.M.Peck, USA, Dr.Chen Yang Chang, China and Miss.Yu Hisien Tu, Taiwan. The number of registered delegates for the Conference was 142 and 128 nurses participated in the nurses programme. There were 15 Guest Lectures and 16 poster presentations. Twenty one free papers were presented during the Conference. The Conference came to an end with a 'Thanks' ceremony and Dr.V.K.Tiwari taking over to the next 20th NABICON at New Delhi.
