21st Annual Conference of NABI- NABICON 2013
The 21st Annual Conference of National Academy of Burns- India was held at Baroda Medical College Auditorium, SSG Hospital, Vadodara-390001, Gujarat India from 25th -27th Jan 2013. The theme of the conference was ‘Improve Burns Care-Together We Can’. The Conference was organized by the President NABI Dr.Umesh Shah in association with Gujarat State Chapter-The Association of Surgeons of India and Gujarat State Surgeons’ Association. A full day CME was conducted on 25th Jan 2013 which included topics ranging from basics to advanced and recent concepts in burn management. The meeting was attended by more than 300 delegates who included a large number of general surgery colleagues as well befitting the Conference theme. Delegates also comprised a large number of nurses, physiotherapists, post graduates and nursing students. Besides few reputed burn experts from the globe, the invited Faculty comprised of who’s who in Burn care from all over the country. The scientific deliberations by this galaxy of stalwarts coupled with active audience participation made the sessions very interactive and informative.
The Conference was inaugurated on 25th Jan 13 by the Chief Guest Mr.Prithwiraj Sur, Executive Director, IOC-Gujarat Refinery, while PadmaShri Dr.Ashok Gupta was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Bhimandas Bilwani oration was delivered by Patron Prof J.L.Gupta, Safdarjang-NABI Professorship talk was given by Dr.V.Jayaraman, and Lok Nayak Hospital visiting Professorship talk was delivered by Dr.Tina Palmeri, President of American Burn Association. Dr. Madhuri Gore, Mumbai delivered the Mumbai NABICON Burns Research Award oration. Besides, there were many Guest lectures, competitive free papers and a large number of posters on various aspects including prevention, management, rehabilitation and research. Business meetings of NABI were also held as scheduled. Dr.Umesh Shah, President NABI thanked one and all for coming in large numbers to make the Conference a success. All the participants were treated to a memorable meeting which I am sure shall be remembered for a long time. |
