The 22nd Annual Conference of National Academy of Burns-India was organized by the Department of Burns, Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi from 7th-9th Feb 2014 under the stewardship of Prof R.P.Narayan, President NABI. A one day dedicated CME on basics and advanced concepts in Burns care was held at the Lecture theatre 1 at Safdarjung Hospital on Friday, 7th Feb 2014. The subsequent 2 days scientific proceedings were held at the Auditorium, SCOPE Convention centre, Scope building, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The theme of the Conference was befittingly chosen as ‘Learn the Science, Master the Art’.

The Conference was inaugurated on 7th Feb 14 at CSOI auditorium by the Chief Guest Padmashri Prof.Jagdish Prasad, Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India, and Prof.B.D.Athani, Special DGHS and Medical Superintendent, Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. Padmashri Prof J.L.Gupta, Patron NABI, Dir Prof Karoon Agrawal, HOD, Burns and Plastic Surgery, Safdarjung Hospital, Dr.Rajeev Ahuja, HOD, Burns and Plastic Surgery, Lok Nayak Hospital, Prof R.P.Narayan, President NABI, Dr.Prabhat Shrivastava, Secretray NABI and Dr.Shardendu Sharma, Organizing Secretary presided over the inauguration.

The meeting was attended by more than 250 delegates who comprised of a large number of General Surgery colleagues in addition to plastic surgery fraternity members, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nursing personnel etc. Besides the who’s who of burn care in India, the invited faculty comprised of many reputed stalwarts from across the globe. All the didactic lectures were very well received and the active discussion by the live audience made the sessions very educational and informative. Besides the Bhimandas Bilwani oration, Lok Nayak Hospital oration and Mumbai Burns Research award oration, there were Invited / Guest lectures, ‘NABI Best paper session’, free papers and poster presentations as well. Business meetings of NABI were also held as scheduled. Dr.R.P.Narayan, President NABI, thanked one and all for coming in large numbers and making the meeting a great success.
